The Story
23072022 - The day is spent at Arvidsjaur today. Breakfast first. We bought the orange juice, yoghurt, cheese in a tube, bread and ham from a nearby supermarket. The blueberries were plucked from a forest nearby.

Plan for the day was to hike a hill to see the view of the town. We were very lucky with the weather. It was not a difficult hike. It took us about 35 minutes to get to the top.

Time for lunch! We found a restaurant where there was a lunch deal. It was a small buffet to choose from and it includes a canned drink.

After lunch, we made our way to Lappstaden (The Sami Village). I was here in 2018

In the early 17th century, the first churches were built in the vast regions of Lapland, and the church in Arvidsjaur was completed in 1607. The church was to bring Christianity and Christian teachings to the Sami. A church attendance law stipulated a minimum level of attendance, but this was difficult for the nomadic Sami to fulfil. Since the road to church was long, overnight kåtor were built and the settlers built their church cottages nearby. Source from Visit Arvidsjaur.

Then, we walked around town and saw some reindeer statues which I have to take a photo with.

Church in town which I took a photo with because it it flanked by two giant trees and it is a pretty view.

Dinner place at Laponiakåtan. It is a huge kåta.

I took a picture of the menu because I think it will come in handy somehow in the future. Maybe for me to compare prices. Haha!

Yummy complimentary bread that we received before the main meal.

We shared a charkuterie tray as appetisers - reindeer and moose served with local cheese, cloudberry cream and warm bread. Good thing I took a photo of the menu because the description came in handy here.

My grilled reindeer meat that is locally sourced from Arvidsjaur. Served with portwine sauce, herb butter, tomato salad, bearnaise sauce and french fries (I chose fries over grilled or boiled potatoes).

Meal for the three of us.
