The Story
22072022 - Today will be a long train journey from Östersund to Arvidsjaur. My travel companions suggested the stops as I am not familiar with the places in Sweden. As it was an early departure from Östersund, we bought our breakfast from ICA grocery store the day before.

Lunch was early today as we arrived at Vilhelmina Norra at 1138 hours. The partnered restaurant is Bergmans Fisk och vilt. The fish plate was really yummy - price-awarded hot smoked pepper salmon, pickled salmon, price awarded cold smoked salmon and herring. The price-awarded dishes won the Swedish Championship. I don't have any information on which food competition is that.

We stopped at Sorsele train station where there is an Inlandsbanan Museum. As we were going to pass by this place again on our journey back, we did not join the crowd to explore the museum. Instead, I took this opportunity to take a picture with 2 Inlandsbanan trains. This is the only time during the day where both northbound and southbound trains meet.

Finally, at Arvidsjaur station! I was excited to see a giant moose wooden statue but it is difficult to take a photo with it and Arvidsjaur station house. Arvidsjaur town is really quiet and I think it is made famous because of a station that Inlandsbanan has along the way. It felt like a ghost town. Large buildings. Countable number of persons walking on the streets.

We checked all our booked accommodations a week before our trip. When we booked the hostel in Arvidsjaur, the place was called Silvercross 45. A week before the trip, we checked again and the place was closed. Panicked! We checked the website and found out that the place has been bought over by a new owner. So, the booked rooms changed. Instead of a single room with 3 beds, we got 2 rooms instead as the new owners (a family of 3) had renovation plans. Yay to us! Happy that the hostel offered coffee and cereals.

The weather is cloudy but my travel companions insisted on taking a dip in the waters. Not for me.

Dinner is pizza at a random restaurant (Teckans vedugnspizza) that we saw. Delicious with pizza that is baked in a wooden stove.
