Another place to go to in Miri is the Miri Crocodile Farm which houses a Mini Zoo too. This place is a bit far from the city and it takes about a 25 minute taxi ride to get there. We could take the bus too but we missed the bus and decided to not wait. Yes, I do absolutely feel like a tourist going to the Crocodile Farm and taking a taxi. Well, do try to ignore that despite the fact that this is suppose to be a shoestring blog. I admit, I was spoilt by taking a taxi. So, we are at the Crocodile Farm. The entrance fee is RM18.
The banner of the largest crocodile in the Crocodile Farm. It is isolated from the other crocodiles and has a cramped space of its own. You can scroll down below to see a photo of it.
I walked in and I saw a crocodile skin. It looks fake to me.
Then, I saw them. The many many sleeping crocodiles. Not much of a movement. Except during the feeding time at 10.30am, but not many crocodiles made any attempt to catch the chicken that was thrown at them. If the chicken was slightly off by 10cm, the crocodile did not crawl to it. The crocodile slept instead.
The feeding session. Can you see a man standing in the middle in a wooden box? Here, he is holding a chicken to a crocodile which is lying next to the box.
After seeing the crocodiles, we walked further in to see the Mini Zoo. Birds, owls, sunbear (bribed with a bottle of milk to take photo with visitors and photo session costs RM10), monkeys, horses, deers, rabbits. Please don't expect an elephant or tigers.
There you have it. The largest crocodile in the Crocodile Farm. Length of 183 feet. Weighing 900kg.
One can buy food to feed the horses, rabbits and deers. Just put RM1 inside the allocated box and take one packet.
It took us close to 2 hours to finish the place. And boy, was it so hot. A good place for a family outing and if you would like to go on a date. I did see a couple on a date. I don't think it is too romantic because it is so hot.
