At 10.30am, I waited for the transport outside the cafetaria in Sepilok. A van with Labuk Bay written on it came right on time. I was excited and seeing I was solo, I get to sit next to the driver. Labuk Bay is a private owned centre, and hence, not many advertisements about it. The drive brought us to an oil palm plantation. It was a bumpy ride inside, and it is not recommended to even walk. All of us in the van were considered a group and have to move together, as the van will bring us around Labuk Bay. There is an informal schedule planned out for the visitors of Labuk Bay. Plan : Visit Platform A --> Lunch in Nipah Resort --> Watch Video in Nipah Resort --> Visit Platform B --> Drive Back.
One pay for the ticket at the entrance of the oil palm plantation. It is RM20 for a one way van ride. I paid RM40 for return van ride. The entrance fee is RM15 for a Malaysian. A non-Malaysian costs RM60. Oh so expensive...
There are 2 platforms in Labuk Bay. Platform A and Platform B has 2 feeding times each. Platform A feeding time is at 9.30am and 2.30pm. Platform B feeding time is at 11.30am and 4.30pm. Since we have missed Platform A feeding time, we head for Platform B first. At Platform B, we can see both silver-leaf monkey and proboscis monkey. When I reached, I saw lots of silver-leaf monkey, and they are not afraid of the visitors. Then, I saw the Proboscis Monkey, and I got so excited. I think the monkey is pretty used to visitors and was not bothered when I snapped photos so close to him, and even took a video too. The Proboscis Monkey make the noise - Errr Errr. Only the male Proboscis Monkey has the long nose, and the longer the nose, the more attractive he is to the females. The female monkeys has a sharp nose.
Monkey love. Cleaning each other tails.
Next - Lunch, Video on Proboscis Monkey and Platform A.
