Mabul & Sandakan : Part 12 - Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Platform A

After the 1 hour viewing in Labuk Bay Platform B, our group were sent to have lunch at Nipah Lodge. I did not see any visitors in Nipah Lodge. I suppose that is the reason on why we are arranged to have lunch here - to generate some monies for the Lodge. As Labuk Bay can be completed in a day, I think there is not much reason to stay in the lodge unless one would like some peace and quiet in the nature. I had seafood fried noodles which cost me RM15. I think that is one of the cheapest in the menu.

After lunch, we are scheduled for a video viewing in the Lodge too. It is about 1 hour and one sees the history of how Labuk Bay was set up, and some characteristics of Proboscis Monkey. Finished with video watching, we were sent to Platform A where we saw more of the feeding moments.

I saw an adult monkey attempting to rape a child monkey, and the child managed to wiggle herself out and jumped towards her mother.

We left Labuk Bay about 3.30pm. First, we stopped at Sepilok to drop off some passengers. And then we were headed to Sandakan Town. The van transfer stopped in front of the Water Front. And I walked towards Sandakan Backpackers Hostel, the same place I stayed 2 nights ago. I checked in my things, and stayed in the same room too. Haha! I walked along the Water Front looking for any empty seats by the hawker stalls to enjoy the sunset. I got a good spot, and had a simple meal of burger and ginger tea. I was seriously in need of detox.
