Bon Odori 2013 : Eat, Dance, Drink Japanese

Right after my short visit to Trick Art Museum, I went with my friends to Bon Odori which was held in Panasonic Stadium in Shah Alam. The Stadium is located opposite Panasonic Factory. Now, Bon Odori (Bon Dance) is an annual event which I only knew this year, and can you believe that it is the 37th year now! I am so shocked at my ignorance! This festival is held in Japan as a reminder of the gratefulness one should feel towards one's ancestors. The event started at 7pm, but the crowd was there by 6pm!

There were lots of kids dressed in kimono.

The stalls sold food at expensive prices! I was surprised to see a Japanese cucumber selling at RM5. A Coke can at RM5. A bowl of curry rice with 2 tempura prawns at RM20. Must be the only day where the business can strip the money off the customers willingly.

We bought soya bean here and it is so diluted.

We found a spot to sit on the running tracks to eat. The minimal price paid was RM5.

In the middle of the field was a stage where there were dancers performing Japanese dance. We joined the dance too but below the stage, of course. In fact, almost everyone joined the dance. They were very easy steps to be remembered, and the music is very cute too.

When the performers on stage took a break, there was performance on the running tracks. There were lots of people trying to see the dance, and lots of people were recording the performance. Hence, my attempt to snap the dance from another person's lens. Much easier this way.

Then, my friends purchased drinks. Surprisingly, the drink they bought was cheap. RM1 for a bottle. I was so shocked, because we spent a minimal of RM5 for a food item.

The grand finale of the night was a fireworks performance!

It did not end too late. The event finished at 930pm. I would definitely give next year a go.
