The Story

180618 Morning : The rain stopped at 7am. We packed our stuff and started the 19km walk back to Nikkaluokta at 8.25am. Here, you can see the route that leads to the helicopter spot that branches out from the route to the mountain station. It is a well-built wooden catwalk.

One can see the blue skies now. The clouds are being blown away now. Today would have been a good day to attempt to go to the peak. But we were exhausted and did not have proper food with us. Plus, we needed the energy to walk back to the car.

This is the jetty where one waits for the boat (from the direction of Nikkaluokta) or alights from the boat (if one takes the boat from the other jetty where one is returning down from Kebnekaise). I was very happy when we were here. We had 6km left to the entrance - back to where we started. One can buy the ticket here. SEK350 per one way. My previous post showed a photo of the other jetty where the 5km boat ride ends (if the person takes the boat from Nikkaluokta i.e. here in the below photo) or starts if one hikes  down from Kebnekaise. I hope you are not confused reading this paragraph. Haha!

At 3.30pm, we reached Nikkaluokta again! Yay! After 7 hours of walking and resting. We took 8 hours to go up to Kebnekaise Mountain Station and 1 hour lesser to get down. So relieved to see this place again.

I thought it was going to cost a lot for a shower but it costed SEK30/RM15 per person. Phew! We could afford it. The shower facility was in a small building outside the main building. You can see it in the below photo. It is the one behind a skinny tree. It felt so good to discard my clothes and put on some clean fresh ones.

For dinner, I treated us to a Thai restaurant that has sushi (As usual. All Thai restaurants serve sushi in their menu) in addition to its usual Thai menu. The sushi did not taste so good. It was very sticky. But the Thai food was yummy. Probably because the mother of the chef cooked it. Haha! This was in a restaurant in Kiruna Centrum.

Now, Prof Sweet Tooth drives further north and crosses the border to Norway. He stopped in a random rest place. His plan was to go to Tromso. It was an impromptu plan.
