The Story

170618 Evening : From the Botanical Garden and Sami Sculpture Park in Jokkmokk, we went to see another waterfall. Norrland is full of waterfalls, rivers and nature reserve. This waterfall - Harsprångsfallet - is a pretty sight! Pronounced as 'har-sprongs-fah-let'. There is a lovely path leading to a viewpoint to see a panoramic view of the waterfall. It is dry at the moment. The dam is closed. The height of the fall is 75 metres. There was also a memorial stone erected for those that lost their lives while building the dam.

Next up was Easy Elsie Crash Site. It is the site of a crashed plane without any fatalities. It was a 1.5km walk to the site. By the way, we were here at 10.30pm. Look at how bright it still was. It was still bright when we left at 11.30pm!

On October 29, 1944, a force of 37 Avro Lancaster bombers from Nos. 9 and 617 squadrons took off from RAF Lossiemouth on Scotland’s rugged Moray Firth. Among them was NF920, a Lancaster B.III wearing the code KC-E, known to her crew as Easy Elsie. You can read the full article here.

On our way further up north, I finally saw my first midnight sun! It was 12.40am and I had dozed off in the car. Prof Sweet Tooth woke me up to see the midnight sun - the sun that was hovering at the horizon. It was a darn spectacular sight!
