The Story

160618: After Hällingsåfallet, the drive continues to see another waterfall. We did not anticipate most of these waterfalls in our research but we relied mostly on the signboards with the 'point of interest' logo along our way. Prof Sweet Tooth also looked at maps and there are symbols for nature reserves or places worth stopping for.

The next waterfall is Brakkåfallet (pronounced as 'brak-ko-fah-let'). Lots of these stones were found here and they are called 'slate' or 'skiffer' in Swedish.

Slate is a fine-grained, foliated, homogeneous metamorphic rock derived from an original shale-type sedimentary rock composed of clay or volcanic ash through low-grade regional metamorphism. Source from Wikipedia.

It was a nice view of the waterfall with a good stretch for our legs. I did not find the waterfall and ravine too fascinating as I had just visited Hällingsåfallet. The weather was cooling and it was a lovely walk, nonetheless.

After Brakkåfallet, we stopped at the parking lot for Korallgrottan. It was a 4km walk to see the caves. There is a proper walking trail with planks provided for uneven or wet paths underneath. Korallgrottan is the longest cave system in Sweden which is 6km of length and one has to buy tickets in advance to book a guide. It costs SEK1,150 for an adult (OH MY GAWD! THE PRICE!) and it includes both fika and lunch. STILL EXPENSIVE! You can book the tickets at Vilseleden. We walked towards the starting point of the caves where we saw another waterfall. We met one of the guides who was back earlier to start a fire to prepare food for a group. Yes, the meals include cooking meals over a fire. Sounds really cool, I guess.
