The Story

210717 : Today morning, we drove from our parking spot in German to Flensburg. There is a huge shopping mall in Flensburg before the Denmark border where you can spend the last of your Euro. I had Asian food because I miss noodles so much. This is Sweet Sour Noodles which is a considerable portion. Well, I wished it could have been bigger. Because I was still not full, I shared a slice of vegetarian pizza with Prof Sweet Tooth. The slice was pretty big. The pizza shop was just a few shops away from the Asian Restaurant in the shopping mall.

After Flensburg, the drive continues on to Denmark. As we were cruising on Storebaelt, I saw a huge crowd on the beach (at the end of Storebaelt "translated as Great Belt Bridge"). So, I piqued Prof Sweet Tooth curiousity and he detoured to see what was going on. It turns out there is a warship on the waters that has sailed from Murmansk in north Norway which was heading towards St Petersburg in Russia for the Russian navy's anniversary.

We decided to walk around the beach. Even Prof Sweet Tooth, the Swede has not even stepped on this place. I gawked at his confession.

There was an ice boat museum here too which doesn't look like it has many visitors. It is opened from 12 April till 15 October 2017, and the hours are 10am to 6pm. It does not have any information in English which is a bit disheartening, but I guess it is not famous enough to render the extra effort for English descriptions.

I did enjoyed the stroll around the beach. It was neither windy nor cold. It is definitely worth the stop.

Prof Sweet Tooth suggested that we take the ferry back to Sweden. We will not be passing through Malmo. We will be going to Helsingor, Denmark to go to Helsingborg, Sweden. We reached at 11.10pm and Prof Sweet Tooth was a bit apprehensive if the ferry was operating at this hour. Thankfully, it was still operating! We got the 11.30pm ferry. I just googled and it states 24 hours operation. Really?

We got into the ferry for the 20-minute ride. We got out from the car and went upstairs to see a restaurant, very clean toilets and a mini shopping mall. Wow. I am impressed. I wonder if much can be done in the 20-minute ride. We took the stairs to the top and it was very cold and windy! Of course, one should not miss the opportunity to snap a photo on the deck.

By the way, to open the toilet door, one has to press the black button. Can you see it?

Before you know it, 20 minutes was up just like that. The cyclists and motorcycles left first, and the cars continue forth. We officially stepped into Sweden by midnight. Prof Sweet Tooth has suggested that we go to Kullaberg which has a nice nature reserve, as recommended by his friend. So, he drove on to Kullaberg Parking and we slept there for the night.
