Sweden : Part 15 - Day 6 Evening : Nordic Museum

23092015 - After Skansen, I walked over to Nordic Museum for my 5pm tour. It was free after 5pm on a Wednesday then. Nordic Museum is just next to Skansen. I would totally recommend anyone who is in Stockholm to visit Nordic Museum. In addition to its grand architecture, the contents of the museum showcase the life of the Swedes since the early years. You learn about the life and the culture of the Swedes - interior designs of the houses, clothes and jewellery they wore, the furniture and fittings in a house, the festivals they celebrate and the first people of Sweden. Thorough and detailed for a visitor. So worth the 3 hours time spent here. Enjoy the photos!

The Nordic Museum is a museum located on Djurgården, an island in central Stockholm, Sweden, dedicated to the cultural history and ethnography of Sweden from the Early Modern age (which for purposes of Swedish history is said to begin in 1520) until the contemporary period. The museum was founded in the late 19th century by Artur Hazelius, who also founded the open-air museum Skansen, long part of the museum, until the institutions were made independent of each other in 1963. The museum has over 1.5 million objects in its collections, including buildings such as the Julita farm in Södermanland, Svindersvik in Nacka, Tyresö Palace in Tyresö, and the chaplain farm at Härkeberga near Enköping. The Nordic Museum's archive also houses an extensive collection of documents and photograph. (Source from Wikipedia)

I get to sit on a bullock cart. I am not sure if it is meant for kids to sit only. It was a bit unstable when I climbed on it.

The night view on the walk back to my hostel.
