The Story

160915 : From Flensburg, the drive continues on to Denmark. We detour to Odense where we went to the house of Hans Christian Anderson. It is not his house. It was actually a museum.

We reached the Museum 40 minutes before closing time. So, we had to do a quick tour in the Museum - reading his history, looking at his library and enjoying the exhibits. Some of his stories were brought to life with the displays - Thumbelina, The Pea in the Mattress (probably wrong title), The Emperor's New Clothes.

We crossed the 2 expensive bridges from Denmark to Sweden and officially entered Sweden at 6.55pm. It was a long drive back to Stockholm and Prof Sweet Tooth reached his place by 4am.

Overall, Prof Sweet Tooth has driven 7125km from Stockholm to Pyrenees and back to Stockholm again. It was a very long drive with most nights sleeping in the car using the sleeping bag. Long days that start with cold freezing mornings, snacking on raisins and vegetable soups as breakfast, late lunches in villages, and never ending drive through the night. Truly, a trip worth going on if you are wondering if you should. But I would definitely recommend more than 16 days. There were many places we could have gone and had to choose the ones that fit our interests. I had initially suggested 28 days which is the number of days I was away but Prof Sweet Tooth could only bear to leave his work for 16 days. I will write a summary of my itinerary and expenses in the next post. For the remaining days of my holidays, we go up further from Stockholm hoping to see the Northern Lights but made a detour to the west and into Norway because of the cloudy skies. Read on my impromptu trip to chilly Norway.
