02052015 : The day before, we went for a night walk and I got bitten by 3 leeches. Today, I was very much afraid if I am going to be bitten again. We are going to Abai Waterfall, which is part of our arranged itinerary (if you did not buy the package, one has to pay for a guide to bring you to the Waterfall or you could always go by yourself but I will never recommend that - one must always go with a local or someone who knows the route). It is the same route used during the night walk but the night walk is a short distance. The route to Abai Waterfall goes further in. For breakfast which is also part of our package, we had fried rice and fried egg. Yummy simple meal. We do need the rice for the energy!
The walk to the Waterfall is suppose to take an hour, but because we did some bird watching and used the route that is by the river (the usual route is a clear path in the jungle), it took us 2.5 hours. We started at 9am and reached by 11.30am.
This is the river route we used. We did not wade through the river, but just scrambled through a lot of rocks. I love the view of the river. Both my right and left side. Hence, the 2 photos. The scenery is surreal. There were no one but the 3 of us using the route. We did meet other guests of Nusa Holiday Village along the way, but they used the path in the jungle which we used on our way back and it was much easier.
Stops to discuss on birds..
This is Abai Waterfall. It is not very huge. One can swim inside but I did not want to take the risk because I am not good in threading water. Plus, there is insufficient time. My sister is hungry and we only spent 10 minutes before we made our way back.
We were back by 1pm, and my sister was obviously not that hungry because she was looking at her bird book. While I started on my lunch.
And no leech bite! Yay!
