07032015 : I participated in a hike up a small hill in Melaka. They call it 'Bukit Batu Lebah' and in English, I translate it as 'Bee Rock Hill'. Pretty cool name in English. Well, there was a huge rock at the peak of the hill and it was very hot for that matter, but thankfully, there were no encounter with any bees. My friend and I met up with the remaining group at Tol Ayer Keroh in Melaka, and drove towards Hutan Rekreasi Bukit Batu Lebah. It was about an hour plus drive.
Before we started our hike, we got a briefing from the caretaker. He advised to not litter and not utter wrong words while hiking. Once upon a time, this hill was famous but its popularity dwindled quickly. In a year, 3 or 4 groups hike up this hill. The hike up the peak and back to the carpark will take us about 3 hours, which includes photography session.
Along the way, our group leader was putting up papers on the direction to the peak. Because there are some crossroads along the way.
We passed by some rocks that resemble a boat. It was a huge rock. And it did look like a boat from a certain angle.
The first cave we encounter. A small cave. A short one. They call it 'Gua Kelambu'. Kelambu in English is mosquito net.
The second cave is Gua Reban. Reban in English means coop. Like a chicken who stays in the coop. I suppose the name comes from the narrow exit out from this cave and one has to sort of walk like a chicken.
In about 20 minutes, we reached the peak! At 430m above sea level. It was terribly hot at 1.30pm. Everyone huddled as much under the shade. One even brought an umbrella too.
And I am pointing at Melaka Town! The route back is the same route up.

I don’t think one needs to register though. You can just speak to the caretaker when you arrive.
