Krabi : Part 1 - The 9.5 Hour Bus Ride to Thailand Border

01052014 - Today, I embarked on one of my must-see destination - Krabi. It is a must-see for me because everyone talks about it, and so, I got influenced. To see the beaches. Mostly, just for the beaches. I joined the trip organised by Backpackers Buddies Malaysia (BBM). BBM is a group I joined in Facebook. Considering it's a backpackers' group, you can be assured the price is affordable. I paid RM450 for the trip which includes the transport, accommodation, island hopping and 1 dinner. I exchanged RM200 for my personal expenses i.e. food and a fridge magnet. I have RM85 balance after the trip. So, in total, I spent RM565.

We gathered at KL Sentral and the bus departed at 1.30am. We stopped twice for toilet break and for morning prayers. We reached CTC, Changlung at 8am. We stopped at CTC which is about 30 minutes away from the Thai Border. CTC is the place to stop for meal (I had roti canai), exchange monies to THB or MYR and to laze around for 2 hours. Haha! Well, we stopped that long because we were filling up the white card (you know, the white card whenever you enter into a new country). CTC was filled with a lot of people. It is a long weekend. 4 days. Oh I did not mention 01052014 which falls on a Thursday is a public holiday due to Labour's Day, and I took the next day off to have a long weekend.

We were so close to the border but got caught in the traffic. Many people was going to Thailand. That short distance took us 20 minutes.

At 11.10am, I see Thailand flag flapping strongly with the wind at Sadao - Thailand Border. Sawadeeka Thailand! We bought some snacks to eat on the bus. There were a few stalls after we crossed the border. I bought myself 2 corns - one sweet corn which is the yellow colour and one glutinous corn which is the white / purple colour. Yellow corn sweet and nice. White / purple corn is tasteless but very filling. One corn costs THB20.

At the parking lot after the border, I saw our bus! It is a huge double-decker bus which blares out romantic songs and shows Thai movies. A nice bus I would say.

At 1230pm (Malaysia time), the bus left the border and we were on our way to Krabi. Yay! I am excited.
