Terengganu : Part 2 - Dinner at Panorama

After getting our keys, we went to our room which was walking up another flight of stairs. The legs were so tired. Our room was next to the common bathroom. As my sister opened the door, we were hit by a wave of heat. The room was so stuffy and hot. We had to slide open the balcony door immediately. Since there were 3 of us, they gave us a mattress which is placed on the floor. The bathroom door cannot be closed. I mean, partially closed and unable to lock because the latch is stuck. But it's fine. We are not strangers anyway.

This is the view from our balcony.

We passed out at 330pm on the bed with the balcony door opened. I was a bit fearful that people may jump up the balcony and into our room. So, I was sleeping off and on. And we woke up at 630pm. Showered and out we go to get dinner.

And this, I present to you, our humble abode. The photos will show you the route from our room to the beach.

Immediately after walking down the last flight of stairs, I saw this snorkelling booth that attracted me because of its funny sign. You can see the words clearer in the next photo. The man was funny and friendly. His name is Limiey. Yes, we became friends. He guided me in one of the snorkelling spots because he could see I was not a strong swimmer and also, I was alone too in the snorkelling trip. He has got a good package that includes accommodation in D' Rock Garden (with air-conditioner, much better than ours), breakfast (Day 2 and 3), lunch (Day 1, 2 and 3), dinner (Day 1), barbequed dinner (Day 2), snorkelling at 5 spots (Day 2), speedboat transfer to and fro jetty and water taxi for RM380. If you wish to contact him, his number is 013-9687 681. He really gives good service. There were 2 Italian tourists on our snorkelling trip that continued to buy another island trip (Rawa Island) from him the following day which includes diving 10m from the lighthouse. I think he charged them RM60.

So, the snorkelling rate is similar everywhere along this beach. RM50 for long trip i.e. 5 points and 1 stop for lunch. RM40 for short trip i.e. 3 points and 1 stop for lunch. I purchased the long trip.

We walked along the beach looking for a place to eat. Unfortunately, there were no local cafes open because it was the first day of Eid. We looked for the most interesting place.

This is the price list for water taxi. I think it is expensive. This is a one-way rate.

Then, we saw an interesting phenomenon in the sky. The arrangement of the clouds must have blocked the setting sun. So, the rays was sort of filtered. I know, my description is so lame. Anyway, it attracted a lot of the foreigners' attention. One even said - The Russians are coming. Luckily, he didn't said that aliens are coming. A local commented that this is so common.

Finally, we found a place to eat at Panorama Chalets and Restaurant. There was a movie night too! Unfortunately, it rained that night and so, everyone was trying to find shelter. So, no movie night. There were lots of foreigners eating here. Well, obviously since Long Beach is full of foreigners. Sometimes, I can be so duh! Well, the owner of the eatery is a local and there were many part-timers working there. And all the part-timers were foreigners. I figure they were there to earn money to travel around the world, and this is just one of the stops.

The restaurant has 2 separate kitchens. One for the pizza. And the remaining food is prepared in another kitchen. Both are open areas so you can see what is going on. You just have to stand at the counter (where the remaining food is prepared) and someone will attend to you.

And this is our Mexican Chicken Burger for RM15. It took 40 minutes to arrive. Well, actually it was longer, because someone took our food, and we had to wait for a replacement. It was crowded that night, and so it is not surprising that we had to wait that long. Anyway, we had good training that afternoon waiting for our lunch. So, what is 1 hour?

And this is margarita pizza for RM24. This took about 1.5 hour to get to us. I don't think there is any taste of margarita though. Anyway, it was yummy. Thin-crusted. Delicious. Really. I am not kidding. Oh ya, we had a can of 100 plus each for RM3 per can. No choice. You have to drink. So, we drank really slow to savor each drop.

We finished our meal in 15 minutes. Hilarious that we finished it so fast while it took so long to arrive. Since it rained, we sat there and talked among ourselves. We could barely hear ourselves because of the loud music. We left the place an hour later. My sisters bought a plastic raincoat each for RM10. As for me, I ran in the rain on the fine sand. It was the best feeling to run under the rain.
