11052013 - Today, I participated in a paintball game at Astaka Field located near Asia Jaya LRT Station! You can see the field when you take the train. I have been wanting to do it for ages, but I could not find the group of friends to do it with. When I heard that there was a game organised in the Department, I immediately submitted my name for it. So, for this activity, I am doing it for FREE! No shoestring needed. Since I was very new to this game, I walked around the field, snapped photos of the venue and the equipment used. Yes, I am very 'sua ku' (in my Hokkien dialect, this means 'mountain tortoise' which is further explained as a person who has not seen things before). I was very surprised that there is a Paintball League! Wow.
The equipment they call the marker. Inside the blue containers are where the paint pellets are filled in. The pellets are fired off by pressing the trigger. When the trigger is pressed, the pressure from the bottle will push the paint pellets towards its target. It is painful when hit from a near 10 feet. I know it because I experienced it.
Very important to wear the face mask all the time when you are in the field. If you remove it while in the field while the game is still being played, you are disqualified from the game. The pressure of the ball hitting the target is so strong it can injure your eyes or any parts of your face. I know it because I experienced it.
The vest that is initially designed for women can be worn by men too.
Here, the instructor in orange was guiding us on how to wear the gear. The guy in black and white is the referee.
Here, you can see the markers are being filled with pellets.
I present to you the group that played in the game! There were 9 teams and we got number 4! Yay to first-timers!
At the end of 6 games, I had 2 bruises, one on each upper arm, and a small cut on my forehead when a pellet hit my goggles. Overall : supercali-exciting!
