The Story
17072019: We slept the night at Karlskrona which is a UNESCO World Heritage. We walked around its town for 4 hours but no photos were allowed in most places because this is a marine base.

The naval base (MarinB) is a naval base within the Swedish navy that has been in various forms since 1928. The union leadership is located in Karlskrona garrison in Karlskrona. Source from Wikipedia.

There are a few hostels and hotel in this town. Here is UNESCO's explanation of why Karlskrona is listed in the World Heritage Site list.

Karlskrona is an outstanding example of a late-17th-century European planned naval city. The original plan and many of the buildings have survived intact, along with installations that illustrate its subsequent development up to the present day.

You know that this place is a tourist attraction where there is a tourist center.

A church that we stepped in at Stortorget - The Big Square. It is a very simple church that has white interior. We went to a sushi place nearby for lunch.

After Karlskrona, the drive goes on to Skärva herrgård (pronounced as hwer-va hair-gourd) that is a manor which is a UNESCO World Heritage too. Herrgård means manor. This is the explanation from Wikipedia.

Skärva Manor is the country house that shipbuilder Fredrik Henrik af Chapman made on the mainland, just northwest of Karlskrona and east of Nättraby. Behind the project, Gustav III commanded Chapman to move to Karlskrona to develop a build-up for the Kingdom's fleet. Skärva were thus an important workplace and where hydrodynamic experiments could be tested for shipbuilding at its park where there was a water pond. Skärva Mansion is today privately owned and a listed building since 1976. The manor house is also part of the World Heritage Naval City of Karlskrona and is located within the Skärva Natural Reserve.

Drove on to Ronneby Brunnspark to take a walk in the garden to stretch our legs.

Next place - a unique attraction which is a car cemetery (Bilkyrkogården) located in Ryd. As you can guess, lots of rusted and unused car frames. There are other types of vehicles besides car for example tractors, minibus, and even a bicycle.

The drive goes on to look for a cave - Singoallas Grotta (cave). It is not a cave, actually. It is a short pathway that was formed from fallen rocks.

Next place - Stora Mossa Naturreservat located in Hillstorp. We took a night walk at 10.20pm, thinking that we can walk around Kävsjön but we got lost because we did not have good lights with us and could not see the coloured signs on the trees. So, we went back to the car, arriving at 12.45am, and slept for the night.

18072019 : Last town for the drive - Motala. We went inside the radio museum, which was not much to my interest. Walked around town and had pizza for lunch.

Then, it was a drive back to Stockholm!

Total costs for the road trip is SEK2,425.06, categorised as below:
1) Petrol - SEK1,583.46
2) Food - SEK821.60
3) Miscellaneous (Parking) - SEK20
