24052015 : Today, we attempt the peak from Kem Kasut. It is to take us about 1 hour. But it was an ascending trail all the way. We woke up at 5.30am. It was so cold as I peeled myself away from the sleeping bag. We started at 6am to be in time for the sunrise. But I reached the peak by 7.25am, and the early ones who reached could not see any sunrise. I snapped a photo of my shoes because it was so muddy and enroute to the peak, I have banged my head on a hanging branch 3 times! My head did throb slightly, but luckily, it was not a hard bang because I was going slow, but it did annoyed me. We loiter on the peak until 8am.
This is the peak of Gunung Yong Belar, at 2181m, the third highest mountain in Peninsular Malaysia. This mountain falls within the G7 category, i.e. 7 highest mountains of Peninsular Malaysia.
Back at Kem Kasut, we had our breakfast and cleared the place. By 10.30am, we were on our way back. I fell down once. Tripped a few times. Soaked my legs in mud. It reminded me of my trail in Gunung Irau. You can see one photo where I am attempting to walk on a log, and around it was mud, where if you are not careful, your leg can sink till your mid-calf.
At 4.35pm, my exploration in Gunung Yong Belar has finally come to an end. I managed to take a photo with the vegetation in the background.
I am so grateful that I could finish this trek. My toes were throbbing by the end of the walk, as I was not wearing shoes that had cushion in the front. So, descending hurt my big toes. My big toes were hurting, and it still is after a month. The left big toenail has to be replaced. I had to wash my socks twice because it was so muddy and the black stains still remain. Overall, it was a good experience.
