Mabul & Sandakan : Part 9 - Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre

Finished with Rainforest Discovery Centre, I walked towards the direction of Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. I was hungry and stopped by at the food stall outside the Rehabilitation Centre. I figured it will be cheaper than the food in the Centre. There is a cafetaria in the centre too. In the stall, I had a plate of chicken rice. It was a huge portion of RM5. I did wanted to have a taste of coconut drink but it was pricey at RM4. So, I gave it a pass.

I walked in and saw the clock was 1pm. I thought there was still time to the feeding time at 3pm. So, I decided to detour to the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre. It is located inside Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre and the entrance is opposite of the car park. The entrance fee is RM5 for a Malaysian. It was here that I found out that Sepilok is closed from 12-2pm. So, hence I made a good decision to enter into the sun bear area.

I see people snapping the sun bear that is lazing on the tree. Sun bear is the smallest bear in the world and the adult measuring at 1meter. Since I don't have a fancy camera, I use my Samsung S4 to snap photos from the telescope. I get a pretty good photo although my hand is shaking trying to find the focus.

Fortunately, there were sun bears on the ground too which I could snapped photos of easily.

At about 2pm, I left the Centre and went into my long-awaited destination.
