National Museum : Malaysia's History

In December 2011, I had the urge to visit the tourist attractions in Kuala Lumpur. I thought that since tourists are visiting these places, I shall pay them a visit too. So, on 24122011, I left my place early in the morning and took the train to Kuala Lumpur. I had it planned out that I was going to visit the National Museum first and make my walk around the vicinity and cover as many places as I can. I did not drive, as I believed the best method to know the place is by feet. Who knows you may stumble upon some interesting places? Besides, petrol is not cheap. Plus finding a place to park, and its parking fees. You get what I mean.

I took the train to KL Sentral stop, and asked around on how to walk to the National Museum. It was about a 10 minute walk. I could have been faster if I knew the way! I was very happy when I saw the National Museum from the overhead bridge I was standing on.

It is just RM2 to enter. I am not sure about the fee for the foreigners.

I like the staircase.

I entered into the first room, and it was a room of prehistoric era. All the caveman. I remembered a few terms from my History Lesson in my school days like Paleolitic, Mesolitic and Neolitic.

Look, cute fishes come out when I stand inside!

I went upstairs and this shows the Malay Kingdoms.

View from the 1st floor.

Entering into the next room - the colonial era. Slowly, I can see the development of my country.

It was about a 45 minute walk for me inside the Museum. Well, I did not read much of the descriptions in the showcase. I just looked at the mannequins and scanned through its words.

There was an exhibition outside on Shipwrecks (Kapal Karam). It was interesting. Ticket fee of RM3.

It was just a 20 minute walk inside. Outside, I saw the old trains used.

One may think that going to a museum will be boring. But it is really interesting! You just refresh yourself of the knowledge you once knew, and somehow, it gets stored at the back of the mind. I am reminded of my country's history, and in the midst of it, I learnt new things too. After the National Museum, I asked for the directions towards Taman Tasik Perdana. It was a 15 minute' walk there. Pretty quick, if you ask me. Because I did not realise everything was within walking distance. All these tourist attractions are very strategically placed close to each other. I like!
