Bagan Lalang : My First Beach in Selangor

A close friend of mine always go to Bagan Lalang beach with her then-boyfriend for special events, or as a short getaway from the city. So, curious as I am, I decided to pay a visit to this much-visited beach. I googled this area, and it seemed so far to drive! But I was determined to go.

So, on a fine Saturday on 30.04.2011 at about 2pm, I drove to Bagan Lalang beach with my friend. This beach is located in Sepang district. Everyone knows Sepang for the Grand Prix. Back to Bagan Lalang. By the way, Lalang means long grass that grows wildly. I am not sure about Bagan though. There seem to be many definitions, and I think the best that fits would be a kind of plant. I reached the place about 2 hours later. It was a very long drive, and the sun was not much of a help. I felt sleepy driving.

At about 4pm, I reached the place, and it was so hot. Good thing I brought my hat. There was not many people at the beach because it was that hot. The sand was coarse and not so white. The water was not blue. That was my initial reaction when I went there. Well, I was not expecting much though, because Selangor is not famous for its beaches.

That, I believe must be a resort with their private beach. I did not venture further. The water should be blue at there, and the sand is, I hope, fine and maybe white?

So, my close friend tells me she goes there to have seafood. Because it is cheap and nice. I saw some rows of shops but I was more interested in the ABC! Yah! Ais Batu Kacang! Which means Iced Peanut! Haha! That sounds really funny. Basically its shaved ice with lots of syrup, condensed milk, jellies, and some peanuts. Yes, lots of syrup.. and it's so sweet. Nice! Especially on a hot day. Looking at the place, I was not motivated to have any seafood here. Or maybe I just do not know where to find the best place.

So, after enjoying my sinfully sweet dessert, it was time to walk back on the beach, and wait for the sunset.

About 6.30pm, we were back on the road. I saw the famous resort - Sepang Gold Coast. I should have went in to see their interior, but due to the time, I decided not to. Because it was going to be another long drive back.

And there you have it, my extremely short dull post on Bagan Lalang. Please do not be discouraged by my post to visit the place. I would say go and see it for yourself. Everyone should be given a chance to form their own opinion!
