Shangri-la : Part 20 - 'Crossing-the-Bridge' Noodles
For our last dinner in our China trip, we decided to have 'crossing-the-bridge' rice noodles. The name of the noodles is directly translated from the Mandarin name - Guo Qiao Mi Xian. We walked for a short distance to a famous restaurant.
The menu. We ordered. Paid. And waited for the food. You can click on the photo to get a better view of the prices.
In addition to the noodles, we ordered a separate dish of pork spare ribs. And pig's liver.
The ingredients for the noodle. They were raw, and all of them are to be mixed together in the big bowl of hot soup. Ingredients first, noodles last.
After dinner, we walked to a place called 'Girl Shop' which was underground. It was warm. Just like the name, the place sells girls' stuff. Lots of them. There was even a stretch of manicure and pedicure services. I counted the stretch. Since the floor was in big tiles which was equivalent to 2 of my steps, and there were 130 tiles, the total length is about 80m. Yes, I measured my foot and multiplied it by two. Back to basic mathematics.
After the Girlshop, we went to the main square in Kunming. We asked around for directions and it took us about 20 minutes to get there. There were some bronzed statues here. In this area, there were rows of shops selling snacks. My friend treated us to a hotdog stick, potato stick and beef stick. All sprinkled with chili flakes. I admit, I was not completely full from dinner.
I got myself a stick of sweet fruits. Initially, I thought this was ice, but it turns out to be sugar! This is RMB4.
Still craving for food, I got myself a biscuit. I am not sure what was the ingredient, but I think there could be shredded meat inside. It was oily and a bit salty. RMB4 too. Right after this snack, I was stuffed.
Then, it was a walk back to our inn. It took us about 15 minutes to walk back. My friends have a good sense of directions. I just tagged along. I am very sure, if it was just me, I would definitely have been lost. A friend of mine once commented (with regards to my sense of directions) - You are the failure of all failures.
