We reached the jetty at Pantai Merang on the peninsular at about 11.30am. After my vomitting ordeal in the boat, I cleaned myself in the public toilet that was near the jetty. Gross. I am grossed out at myself. My friend took the driving seat considering my current 'delicate' condition. Another place that I have researched on to give a stopover is Tasik Kenyir (Kenyir Lake). This lake is the biggest man-made lake in Southeast Asia.
It was about an hour drive to Kenyir Lake from the jetty, with some stopovers too. The entrance to Kenyir Lake looks grand.
And this is my first encounter with Kenyir Lake! Honestly, I was a bit disappointed by its outlook. My friend said this was because I just came back from Redang Island. Redang Island... ahh... cannot be compared to this lake. Apparently, to appreciate the beauty of Kenyir Lake, one has to take the boat to one of the resorts on the lake, or rent a boat and stay on the lake for a few days, and do the activities. So, if you scroll down on my post, do not believe the boring photos! Maybe I will visit Kenyir Lake, but AFTER I have gone to Perhentian Island!
Look, these are some of the boats that you can rent. It is about RM1000 for a boat, but I have no idea on the number of days. A boat can fit 10 people inside. So, you steer the boat, sleep and eat, and fish and stop anywhere on the lake with this boat.
After absorbing the sights of Kenyir Lake for about an hour plus, we were back on the road to Kuala Lumpur. We could see Kenyir Lake from the road for about 30 minutes drive. Kenyir Lake is really gigantic!
It was about 9pm by the time we reached Kuala Lumpur.
Definitely a weekend well spent. Perhentian Island, you are next!
