Tibet & Nepal : Part 14 - Jhinu Dada & Syauli Bazaar

And after we descended from ABC, the days seem to pass by so fast. It's 16 Sept, and the days were getting clearer. There seem to be not much of rain. If we didn't come down a day earlier, I guess we could have enjoyed longer hours of the mountain view. But it's okay. :-)

Destination - Jhinu Dada. We were told that there was a hot spring in Jhinu Dada! Yay!

I think this is why they call it 'fishtail'.

From afar, I could see the trail with so many steps. We took this route when we hiked to Chhomrong. But we were descending. And now, we are ascending. *disaster*. So, to keep myself distracted, I decided to count the number of steps. You know, the website wrote - ascend on the thousand stony steps. It doesn't define what is 'thousand'.

I counted the steps and it was 2473 steps. Took me 1 hour 15 minutes from the bridge where the steps started, trek upwards the 2473 steps (breathless as I reached Chhomrong, but it was not too bad as we had training for the past few days), and reach the guesthouse. The guide said that there are 2400 steps.

Well, there don't see to be a final answer now, and now someone out there needs to get on this trek and count the number of steps. It is definitely not me.

And Jhinu Dada, we have arrived! Then, we went to the Hot Spring. Only 3 of us went. The guide said it was a 20-minute walk. Felt like a never-ending route. It took about 30 minutes. There was a river next to the Hot Spring, and to use the Hot Spring, one must make a donation. The Hot Spring was not that hot anyway. The guide told us the Hot Spring in EBC was hot enough to boil an egg.

The next day, on 17 Sept, we woke up to see the view of the mountains! We could see Annapurna South and Hiunchuli Mountains.

Destination - Syauli Bazaar.

Trekkers Breakfast. That is bread on the right. Crispy. The top is hashed potato. And we tried the momo with its nice chilli. Not spicy.

Our lunch stop. The lunch here was quite bland. My friends were drinking Cola when I arrived. I needed it so badly too. It costs Rs150. And I got wow.. Cola for RM7.50 for a 250ml bottle. Oh well, it is not easy carrying up Cola in the mountains.

And I had my arm sunburnt because I did not put the suntan lotion and I didn't wear long sleeves because it stinked of my sweat. So, I got water boils on my arm. That was how bad the sunburnt was. Wow. My arms were worst than tanned. It was almost 2 months before my skin colour went back to its original.

This soup was very starchy.

And the fried rice here was tasteless that my friend had to sprinkle salt and pepper. It made a whole lot of difference.

After lunch, we continued our trail. There were lots of stones along the trail. The guide explained that the locals were building another route for vehicles to go through. So, in the 10 years to come, or maybe earlier, one can just drive to ABC.

In Syauli Bazaar, my friend wanted to cook. The kitchen is real clean too! Of course, to use the kitchen, there is a fee too. But it is all part of the paid-for package anyway.

The soup. It's ABC soup. Where everything sour and sweet is thrown inside. Lots of tomatoes, and onion. The guide was shocked - ABC? Annapurna Base Camp Soup? It was cooked in a pressure cooker!

And we had chicken too.

Our very Chinese meals. Fried chicken, Stir fry cabbage with chicken, Fried Egg with onion and ABC Soup.

The next day, we were going to head back. There was a slight pang of sadness of knowing that my trek was coming to an end.
