Upon reaching the jetty, I hurried to the public toilet. It is very welcoming inside the public toilet. The public toilet is just opposite the jetty upon stepping out from the exit. After emptying our bladder, our next mission was to buy some dried shrimp / fish crackers (mainly made from fish and sago flour) or how we know it as keropok lekor. This is a famous delicacy in Terengganu. Because they are in the east coast, and fishing is one of their main economy driver, you can be assured that the keropok lekor is good stuff. You know, fresh fish thing.
We stopped at a random store that sells keropok lekor. It was a road with many shops that sell the same stuff. A huge packet costs RM10. There were 2 types of packets, one filled to the brim, and one filled 3/4. When enquired, the staff told us the one filled to the brim has less fish ingredient. We bought the one in chips form, rather than the sausage form. I prefer it thin and crunchy. The sausage form is spongy. Another way to identify if the cracker has more fish ingredient is by the colour. The darker ones have more fish ingredient. They also sell the chili sauce that goes well with the keropok lekor.
Purchase completed, and we were headed to Chinatown of Terengganu. I did not know that Terengganu has a Chinatown. It was just next to Pasar Payang, the famous market in Terengganu. Seriously, just next only. The Chinatown is just a short stretch of road. Maybe 1.5km. Or it could be more which I am not aware of. I saw a temple. I saw some Chinese restaurants. The main reason I wanted to go to Chinatown was because I saw in a photo that there were photos of turtles on a wall in a back alley of Chinatown. But I totally forgot about this photo thing until I left the place.
We were hungry and decided to have an early dinner. My sister recommended Madam Bee's Kitchen because she went there twice each time she was in Chinatown. But at 5pm, we walked in and was informed that everything is sold out. So, we just entered into a random Chinese restaurant, and ordered some dishes. With our spluttering Mandarin, we ordered fish, prawn, vegetables and steamed tofu. All came to RM101.
Dinner done, and that marks the end of my Terengganu trip. I don't think I will be visiting Terengganu again. The drive of 7 hours is back-aching, neck-straining, and sleep-depriving! I had hoped I did not spend too much but in total I spent RM545.50 (including the Perhentian Package of RM190). Not too bad you may think, but I am on a strict money diet. It was worth it anyhow. *trying to console myself*
