Terengganu : Part 6 - Bye Perhentian!

100813 - We woke up at 645am again hoping to catch a good sunrise today. It was our last chance because we were leaving Perhentian Island today. It was still cloudy, but thankfully, not as cloudy as the day before. This time, we could actually see a bit of the sun! Yahoo. So, from 7am to 720am, we stood there snapping photos of the sunrise.

We checked out from the chalet at 930am. We headed off to one of the local eateries that were opened today. There were 3 cafes, and we chose the middle one, the one with the blue chairs. No reason on choosing this cafe, but I followed my sisters who preferred that table. We ordered the set breakfast, and it was so filling. Mine, especially. And I had to share my food with my sisters so that I won't throw up on the speedboat when we head back to the jetty in the Peninsular.

This is my breakfast set. Pancake with mangoes and dripped with chocolate sauce. Plus 2 toasted bread and an omelette. Plus fruits. Plus mango juice. Plus tea. I think mine costs RM20. Anyway, our breakfast set came to RM56. Well, it was worth it. Each breakfast set came with a plate of fruits.

We took the water taxi at 11.30am. Because we wanted to take the speedboat at 12pm. The speedboats that head back to the jetty function at 8am, 12pm and 4pm. All we had to do was present ourselves with our bags at the beach. Once the taximan see our bags, they know we are heading back and will request to see our speedboat ticket. We were early being the first passengers on the speedboat. We waited for other passengers to climb onto the speedboat and off we go exactly at 12pm. We stopped at Perhentian Besar Island to pick up other passengers too. There were no water taxis at Perhentian Besar. Instead, there was a long jetty where the passengers were seen waiting at the end.

We reached back Kuala Besut Jetty after 40 minutes jumping up and down in the speedboat on the South China Sea. I was really afraid I may throw up my breakfast, but thank goodness, my stomach did not disappoint me.

Here we are, back to mainland and to reality of the hustle bustle of traffic. To me, Perhentian Island did not gave me the same excitement and anticipation as I had when I visited Redang Island. Maybe it was because Redang Island was the first island I stepped onto on the East Coast, and it was way above my expectations. Seeing that both islands are closely located, Perhentian Island has the same landscape as Redang Island. So, I was just okay. Honestly speaking, I was not impressed. Redang Island still remains my favourite island, the first island on the East Coast that inspired me to visit Perhentian Island which unfortunately became 'just-an-island' to me.
