Terengganu : Part 5 - BBQ Dinner and Fire Show

Snorkelling done! Next up was dinner. It was our 2nd night, and we wanted to have barbequed seafood. We were looking for an affordable place, but there were none at Long Beach. The locals were opening on the 3rd day onwards. We asked and were told to go to the other side of the beach, whose name I cannot remember. We walked inside a clear path, and saw Bintang View Chalet. I don't think I would want to stay in this chalet because it is inside some trees and shrubs. Plus it is dark if I were to stay late at night, although there maybe many tourists. But still, the idea is not very appealing to me. Anyway, because of our terrible sense of directions, instead of walking to the other side of the beach, we ended up back on Long Beach. It turned out we made a U-turn instead. Haha! We decided to not proceed to the other side of the beach. Mostly because it was the 7th month - Hungry Ghost Festival.

So, we decided to have our barbequed seafood at Bubu's Restaurant. Yes, the price is as high as its outlook. I wandered the area and saw accommodation behind the restaurant. There were only 8 rooms. Huge ones too. I saw someone coming out from the room, and I asked him how much is the rate? He pointed me to the counter to ask. I asked again if he did not mind telling me how much he paid for it. He said about RM800. I was like ... *wow* Of course, I politely thanked him. So, now, can you predict how much would the price of the dinner be?

For drinks, I ordered a pina colada - RM25. A drink I see people sipped while on the beach. While both of my sisters had mocktail - RM20 each. We waited till 730pm to select our choice of seafood to be barbequed. The workers were setting up the fire.

One can choose lobster, prawn, squid, red snapper and sea bass. The side dishes will be salad and of course the sauce which has a mint taste. We took 1 of each except for the prawn which we took 3.

And here, me is sipping the pina colada.

After an hour, our dinner came. It was the first time I had lobster. It tastes soft. And not as tender as prawn. The price altogether came to RM309. Jaw-dropping, right? Red snapper and sea bass at RM42 each. Prawn at RM35 each. Lobster RM25. Squid RM30. I love the sauce. We asked for more sauce 3 times. But each time, they gave very little because they did not have enough sauce. I did not realise that until after the 3rd round.

I love this group photo of us by the beach.

There was a daily fire show at 930pm. We were just in time. There were 3 foreigners dancing with sticks blazing with fire. They turned the sticks until the fire died.

The highlight was a guy who ate the fire and drank alcohol / something else (my first guess is alcohol.. you can't drink kerosene) to spit back at the fire. Of course, the fire on the sticks turned wild. Turned wild.. what a description. I admit, I have not been reading too many books that describe fire.

We watched for an hour and returned to our chalet. The fire show was still ongoing but it was just the less-wild performance i.e. the turning and twisting of sticks.

Great day I had today. I am contented.
