I just made a purchase to increase my storage to upload my photos. So, it's a monthly payment for 100GB at US$4.99. So, one month for about RM15 is still fine with me, and then thinking it being a monthly payment did not seem so appealing to me. So, I cancelled the monthly payment. But this first and last payment made will be effective for a month. After that, I am not sure if I can continue blogging. I am not sure if I can upload more photos. So, if you do not see any posts next year onwards, then you know what has happened... :-( .. And you will probably find me in a new blog. Yeah!
Let me continue on my trip in China. Recently, I spoke to a colleague and she mentioned to me that a friend of hers visited Shangri-la and did not find it beautiful. I agreed with her. I told her the Shangri-la you should see is Yading. That is truly a Shangri-la.
27 October 2012 : At 8am, we were up and about to have breakfast. It was cold, but I am wearing leggings today! Yay! Because I believed I have braved the worst chill in Yading. The Ancient Village was still quiet. There were not much locals around. Shops were still closed.
This was the only eatery we saw open at 8.15am. We entered in because we were so hungry and cold. Of course, the eatery was filled with lots of customers.
We took a tray of steamed buns (RMB8) that was stuffed with pork and vegetables. It was piping hot but we held it with our fingers as if it was cold buns. It did not even scald our tongues.
This looks tempting. It's Tibetan Barley Pancake that cost RMB15. Also steaming but not a problem to us. The 'cold' us can withstand that heat. I like this. It is crunchy.
Took 2 corns that we broke each into half to be shared. Each corn costs RMB5. Once again, not hot enough.
The first destination we were headed to this morning is Yila Grassland. Remember the place that you must go because heaven is too far-away. I was actually very excited to see this place. I mean, how often do you see a place being compared to heaven?
The ticket fee to enter Yila Grassland is RMB40. It was a 3A tourist attraction.
I entered inside the Grassland and was disappointed with what I saw. Very much different from the photo. We were hoping to see some red grass. Apparently, this was not a good month to visit this area. Definitely not remotely close to be compared with Heaven.
The sparse red grass that I saw.
Reflection of the grassland. The driver told us that Napahai Lake was near Yila Grassland, and recommended us to take the horse. But we declined, and decided not to go to Napahai Lake. We have seen some good lakes in Tibet.
A yak basking under the sun with its saliva stretching down.
Horses can be hired in this area too. That is why these horses are cushioned up.
We went back to the Ancient Village to have lunch. At the Village, my friend made arrangements with the friend of the driver for our following day travels. And just like that, in that 20 minutes' conversation, we got ourselves the ride for the next day. Tomorrow, we were headed to Lijiang.
At the place where we were going to have lunch, there were interesting decorations. Flowers and dogs made from steel.
This is the view from upstairs.
For lunch, we bought 3 lunch sets - Each set came with minestrone soup, bread and butter, and coffee. And also each set has a bowl of salad and 4 pieces of orange slice.
The next set is Grouper Fish with Saffron Sauce and Lemon Butter. RMB68. Tastes like how all fish and chips taste like.
And, the final set - black pepper steak for RMB72. In total, our lunch came to RMB205. I know what you are probably thinking - that this is so not a shoestring budget. You are right. Well, it is fun to try out new things once in a while. Okay, you are probably thinking - once in a while? Like not. She has had Western meals in each Ancient Village (you have to read my newer posts in Shangri-la at night, and Lijiang for that). Yes, you are right once again. Because I did went over my budget, resulting in me having to borrow monies from my friends. But not everything goes to what we planned. Despite that, I still had a good time. That is what is most important to me. Enjoying my travels.
After lunch, we are back on the road to Potatso National Park. I read in Wikitravel that this is a place worth visiting in Shangri-la. Also, it needs half a day to visit it. So, we were on the right schedule. We are using the 2nd half of the day. A National Park. In my mind, I was thinking of Malaysia's National Park. Jungle. Wildlife. Wrong move I did.
